Garden of Paintings: Japanese Art of the ’00s

16 January – 4 April, 2010
An ambitious attempt to catalog movements in Japanese painting over the last decade and a half – with particular focus on the rise of what is becoming known as “new figurative painting,” although it could equally be considered “painting under the influence of manga.” Featured are Takanobu Kobayashi, Yoshitomo Nara and Jun O along with members of the generation born after 1980: Yasuka Goto, Natsuko Sakamoto and so on.
