Tabaimo: Danmen
11 December, 2009 – 3 March, 2010
It has been a whirlwind decade for the artist Tabaimo. Since bursting onto the scene as the youngest participant in the 2001 Yokohama Triennale, where she stunned viewers with her slightly ominous hand-drawn animation installation titled Japanese Commuter Train, Tabaimo has been shown at the 2002 Bienal de São Paulo, the 2006 Biennale of Sydney and the 2007 Venice Biennale. She has also had a solo exhibition in Paris at the Foundation Cartier pour l’art contemporain and been made a professor at Kyoto University of Arts and Design. This is her first major solo show in Japan since a 2006 exhibition at Hara Museum of Contemporary Art.
